The software "Contribute",
made by Macromedia, allows a client to keep his website up to date without
the use of a database and without the need to know the HTML language.
"Contribute" is easy to use and allows you to update your classic HTML website in three simple steps.
You use the software like a web browser to navigate your site until you reach the page you want to change. A simple click on a button makes the page editable. The software then functions as a word processor, allowing you to change the text, the layout and the images of the web page. A second click on a button publishes the modified page to your website.
In addition, "Contribute" allows you to copy text from "Microsoft Word" and can verify the spelling of your page. A backup system allows you to return to a previous version of your webpage and a contextual help pane assists you during the whole process.
The web pages can be based upon templates. This makes it possible to
create graphic coherence across the pages and to protect certain parts
of the pages against modification.
The use of templates allows the client to create new pages based upon
these templates. For instance, one can add an item to the catalogue of
a corporate website.
